Optimal Minimax Design Of Architectural Structures Considering Variability In Materials And Loads
Keywords:
Robust structural design; Minimax optimization; Architectural structures; Material variability; Load uncertainty; Structural reliabilityAbstract
Structural design in architecture is inherently affected by uncertainty associated with material properties and external loads. Conventional deterministic design approaches, based on nominal values and safety factors, may fail to ensure adequate performance under adverse combinations of material variability and extreme loading conditions. This study proposes a minimax-based optimal design framework for architectural structures, explicitly accounting for variability in material properties and structural loads to enhance robustness and reliability.
